with maureen
8 sessions; tuesdays 7 - 9pm
oct 21, 28; nov 4, 11, 18, 25; dec 2, 9
$150
This 8-week series will be an exploration of the Bhagavad Gita, one of India’s most sacred texts. The Gita is a poetic treatise about humankind’s ongoing struggle between the sacred and the profane. Gandhi referred to the Bhagavad Gita as, “a spiritual reference book.” He saw it as a guide for daily life, not as a collection of esoteric wisdom for renunciates. In this class, we’ll focus on how this ancient text provides a framework for living yoga as householders whose immersion in the world of action is the path, rather than the obstacle, to spiritual awareness.
