Bill Abadie Photo

bill abadie is a certified Anusara yoga teacher. He brings an approach that is physically dynamic and inspirational. His classes will help develop an inner awareness of your body. Bill began his study of yoga in the mid 1990’s and has been devoted to yoga ever since. In addition to studying with John Friend, the founder of Anusara, he has studied fairly extensively with Lynne Minton of Anchorage, Alaska and Moses Brown in Baltimore, Maryland. Yoga runs in his family, with his Mother practicing as long as he can remember and his sister owning two Anusara yoga studios in Houston, Texas. Bill and his wife moved to Lake Oswego this past summer from Baltimore, where he was teaching at several yoga studios.


Maureen Clyne

maureen clyne leads students on a heartfelt journey through Yoga’s centuries’ old tradition with energetic lectures and dynamic group discussions. She deftly unravels yoga’s frequently bewildering philosophies and ancient texts in a clear, organized, and straightforward manner. Maureen emphasizes the practical, down-to-earth application of esoteric yoga theory in our daily lives. Her uplifting style draws on twenty-eight years of personal Hatha-Yoga practice, ten years teaching, a passion for sharing Yoga’s amazing tradition, and lifetime tenure at The School of Hard Knocks.


Rivkah Coburn

rivkah coburn brings 14 years of dedicated yoga and meditation practice to amrita. She is honored to have deepened her 4-year connection to the community after completing a year-long yoga apprenticeship with Sarahjoy. Through her graceful voice Rivkah guides students to seek the inner ease and the deep listening from which the exploration of yoga becomes a true mindful awareness of body, breath, and mystery. Vicky Davies

vicky davies has been practicing yoga since the 1980’s though she still has tight hamstrings. For her, yoga is a way of life and a great passion. She has been studying Anusara yoga since 2000. After a year long apprenticeship with Sarahjoy Marsh, she is our newest teacher. She welcomes students to experience the rhythm of their breath and to listen to the wisdom within their heart. Deepest thanks to her teachers who have assisted her along this continually unfolding path.



Liz Eisman

liz eisman, lmt, has been a licensed massage therapist since 1995 and a yoga student since 1991. She began studying Anusara yoga in 2000 and completed a year-long apprenticeship with Sarahjoy Marsh. She has also studied extensively with John Friend, completed the Level I & II Anusara Teacher Trainings, and the Anusara Mini Therapeutic Training. Her warmth, enthusiasm, and attention to detail make her an excellent teacher for both new and seasoned students. In her classes students are encouraged to honor their bodies while exploring their perceived ideas of limitation. She can be reached at 503-422-3257.

lani jelen has been a student of yoga for more than 30 years and, through teaching, has encouraged and inspired students at all levels of practice for the last 17 years. Discovering the power and depth of yoga is her passionate interest and sharing this discovery with her students is a great joy in her life. Lani teaches with a focus on the inner experience of yoga; through breath and movement she guides students to access their deepest inner strength and to sustain awareness of its presence. She honors her teachers John Friend, Richard Freeman, and Rodney Yee and continues on-going studies with Sarahjoy Marsh and other visiting teachers.


Lisa Keays photo

lisa keays is a Certified Anusara teacher who has been teaching since 1996. She is recently arrived in Portland from Rhode Island with her husband. In Rhode Island she taught beginning, intermediate, and prenatal yoga at Studio Exhale, Providence Healing Arts, and Mountain Laurel Yoga Collaborative. In 2003 she taught a 200 hour Anusara teacher training program at Yoga Mandali Yoga Studio in New York City. Lisa started practicing yoga during childhood with her aunts and uncles, who are all Iyengar yoga and Vipassana meditation teachers, and she started studying with John Friend at the age of 14.


Linda Logan

linda logan has been studying yoga for 16 years and teaching for 14. Always a student, she uses her own practice to bring depth, understanding and appreciation of yoga to her students. Linda believes that what we do on the mat is a reflection of our whole life and therefore yoga is ultimately a path of awareness. Sharing this journey with her students is an opportunity to give and support in others that which she holds as essential for well being.


Sarahjoy Marsh

sarahjoy marsh, ma, certified anusara yoga instructor and teacher trainer, has been dedicated to the heart's awakening through yoga since 1990, and teaching since 1994. Having found her home in the tradition of Anusara Yoga, she founded amrita: a sanctuary for yoga in Portland, Oregon as a place of homecoming for the community. She has produced two instructional yoga CDs, River of Devotion and Rooted in the Dharma. Sarahjoy is also the founder and director of Living Yoga, a non-profit outreach program teaching yoga in prisons, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers, battered women's shelters and for homeless youth. Living Yoga is the feature of a documentary, Yoga and the Tao of Service, produced by World Soul Music and Kirk Mann. A lover of the mystical traditions of the world, she lives and teaches with joy, sincerity and passion.

Patricia Navin

patricia navin, rn, found her way to a consistent yoga practice in 1998 and has been teaching since early 2004.  Her approach is good-natured and supportive, combining a light heart with a deep appreciation for yoga's profound effects.  Patricia is honored to be joining the amrita teaching community after completing Sarahjoy's level I teacher training, and gives thanks to her previous teacher Julie Lawrence as well as those who have influenced her practice through books and tapes.  Patricia works as a community health nurse with new parents and their babies.
