nonviolent communication ![]() |
||
| with fred sly | ||
| do you want more peace and ease in your relationships? perhaps the skills and consciousness offered by nonviolent communication (nvc) are for you! in this 10-week series we will learn to: speak what is true for you in a way that others are more likely to be able to hear – hear the pain that others express in a way that supports connection – ask for what you want in a way that inspires natural giving. we will explore and practice the two parts and four steps of the nvc process using examples offered by the participants. we will practice expressing ourselves without judgment and/or blame. we will practice hearing another’s pain in a way that inspires them to remain in connection rather than shutting down or getting angry. and we will provide support to each other concerning the times when communication was not as easy as we hoped for. graduates from this class may attend any of fred’s advanced classes. nonviolent communication is a skill and consciousness developed by marshall rosenberg. click here for more information about nvc. | ||

lecture: it’s often said that yoga is a 5000 year old tradition from india. but what about the practices we do today? is there really a direct link to the ancient past, or is the story more complicated? today yoga is virtually synonymous in the west with the practice of āsana. and yet, in spite of the immense popularity of yoga worldwide, there is little evidence that āsana has ever been the primary aspect of any Indian yoga practice tradition—including the medieval, body-oriented hatha yoga. how did this strange situation come about? what can we learn from the modern history of āsana? and what does it mean for our practice today? come along and find out what the debate is all about. all students welcome. |
