mark singleton, phd, has written extensively on yoga, notably yoga in the modern world, contemporary perspectives and yoga body, and the origins of modern posture practice. his opinions on yoga have appeared (among other places) in yoga journal and the new york times. his current work focuses on the translation of early sanskrit hatha yoga texts. he is a yoga teacher in the iyengar and satyananda traditions. he teaches at st. john’s college, santa fe, new mexico.
judith lasater calls mark “uniquely qualified” and says that his work on modern hatha yoga “should be required reading for every yoga teacher in the us today”. the british wheel of yoga magazine recently wrote that his work “marks western yoga’s coming of age.” the magazine of yoga says “mark singleton is one of the most valuable, vocal and articulate advocates for yoga practitioners and yoga scholars to put aside their differences and engage the questions that bear upon their shared interests. his writing and teaching provide a bridge between the concerns of academia and those of practice.” |

fred sly, ma, has been offering non—violent communication (nvc) trainings and practice groups since 2002. he is the founder of rose city nvc, an agency through which he offers nvc trainings throughout the northwest as well as administering the oregon prison project, which offers nvc training to prisoners at the oregon state penitentiary and other prisons throughout oregon. he finds special joy in supporting individuals, couples, parents, educators, and others in creating cooperative relationships based upon mutual respect and accountability. he is also a founding member of the oregon peace choir, singing to bring peace and harmony to our communities. |
